Why the county matters
Emergency medical services in California are organized through local EMS agencies, and their requirements and policies differ. What a paramedic may do at an event, for example, depends on approval by the local EMS agency.8 That is why we check what applies to your event during planning, rather than assuming that one county's arrangements carry over to the next.
In Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties, the Central California EMS Agency carries out EMS functions, and the Fresno County Department of Public Health is the designated local EMS agency.9 Merced and Mariposa counties are outside that group, and have their own arrangements.
Working with the local 911 system
Madera Event Medical Services is a private company, and is not part of any county or local EMS agency. On-site care does not replace the local 911 system. Before each event, we work with you to agree how 911 will be called and how an ambulance would reach a patient at your site. Local conditions matter here, including distance from the nearest hospital and access on rural roads and fairgrounds.
